Traveling by Boat Through the Inlets, Coves and Fjords of BC's Central Coast
Spirit Bear Adventures will guide you to some of the most spectacular areas of the Great Bear Rainforest and the Kitasoo Spirit Bear Conservancy in search of wildlife and ancient cultural sites.The boat that transports guests through the Kitasoo/Xai'xais Traditional Territory is a comfortable and safe vessel. Named Sx'ay'a'lakv, this Sidney, BC built Armstrong passenger vessel, can carry ten guests plus a guide and boat operator. It is a 26' welded aluminum powered by a Volvo Marine, 310hp single diesel inboard/outdrive engine. The interior is heated for the cooler days on the central coast and it is equipped with VHF radios, radar and GPS plotter and sounder.
This boat was surveyed for seaworthiness in 2008 and has a full compliment of safety equipment on board such as:
- Life jackets
- First Aid Kit
- Life Rings
- Flares
- Fire Extinguishers
This is an amazing way to explore the far reaches of the territory and guest are amazed at the smooth ride and speed with which we can reach our wildlife viewing destinations.
