Rustic Accommodation for Adventurers Exploring BC’s Great Bear Rainforest
The vast traditional territory of the Kitasoo/Xai’xais First Nation, contains epic landscapes, unspoiled beauty and pristine ecosystems and encompassing over 5000 sq.kmThe area includes the Great Bear Rainforest, the largest intact temperate rainforest in the world and the hectate lowlands, a narrow band of coastal topography that was heavily glaciated during the last ice age.
Our two wilderness cabins are located in both eco-regions and give visitors a chance to explore the amazing and varied areas while staying in a comfortably equipped cabin.
One cabin is located at Mussel Inlet in the BC Parks Fjordland Conservancy. This location is great place to stay if you are kayaking or boating in the area. With limited campsites as well as an abundance of Grizzlies in the area, staying in the Mussel cabin will allow you and your group to sleep peacefully as well as utilizing the cabins propane cooking facilities and wood stove.
The second cabin is located in Kitasu Bay near Laredo Sound. This cabin is built on an island that was a traditional marine food harvesting area for thousands of years. This location is a great place to base a extended sea kayak trip or use it as a stopover on your travels going north or south.Each cabin sleeps 12 people, bunk style, is heated by a wood stove and has propane cooking facilities. Guests need to bring their own sleeping bags and there is a composting toilet at each cabin.
